I am able to "play" CIV VI for a few turns, but when I encounter a new civilization, my game locks up. Apparently, when the game tries to switch to a diplo screen so I can talk to the new Civ, the game has a major bug. All the UI goes away and I can't continue.

Am I alone or is this an issue others have.

Among other problems, I've also noticed the entire UI suddenly disappearing as well. I wasn't sure what the cause was and thought it was mod related.

Could you please zip up your log files and post them here, in addition to your DXDIAG? Thanks!
 
Firaxis, do you have instructions on what/where the log files are and the DXDIAG? I would like to assist, but I'm not sure how to get this info to you.

For the benefit of others who might encounter the issue, what was your solution? Even if it turned out to be something straightforward, every bit of insight helps the community.

I don’t know if this is the same reason, but I have encountered something similar where one part of the code thinks you’ve encountered a new Civ but for some reason you haven’t really. This may be related to pathing bugs for scouts. I think when I reloaded the auto save if I made the same scout move the same thing happened, but if I changed what the scout did then the next turn I met the Civ normally. If you use auto scout movement this might also trigger I presume (I never use that). I think I also encounter this with some mod conflicts some time ago. I often play with UI mods (Sukritact’s Simple UI and many others) and sometimes with gameplay mods for extra natural wonders, world wonders, and resources.
