Civ 6 Civ and Leader traits are a mixture between Civ 4 and Civ 5: i.e. different leaders for the same civ in the case of Civ 4, and the unique Traits of Civ 5. But, what about, for a Civ 7, mixing Civ 4 and Civ 6 Civ and Leader traits??
Recently, I have become curious about Civ 4 Traits, such as: industrious or financial. Should Civ 7 go back to Civ 4-esque traits, but have unique traits for each Civ AND leader as opposed to just focusing on the leader as Civ 4 does??
What has given me this idea is actually JFD's Rule with Faith mod. In this mod, he makes some unique Civ traits available to ALL civs. For e.g. his Noble Republic government allows 'cities with a Governor to build one more district than usual', thereby granting Germany's Free Imperial Cities ability to all civs. Another example is the Great Person who grants 'follower belief bonuses of any religion that has at least 1 follower in any city', thereby replicating India's ability. I actually like this approach - it creates a more dynamic playing experience for Civ.
I think some people feel that many Civs and Leaders are 'locked in' to a certain play style because of their Civ/Leader Traits, and whilst you can go for a science victory as Alexander, Seondok is just much better at it. I suspect that Civ 4 gives more flexibility to each civilization.
Don't get me wrong: I love most of the abilities that each Civ has; but should they be abilities which any Civ can acquire, therefore allowing you to customize your Civ as long progress along??
