leaderheads lose texture and go white

Dear frogspawn and mermaid's purses

I've always wondered why some modded leaderheads go white, I suspect it's when the change animation, from say grinning inanely to looking constipated . . . I have a very low power PC but even so, everything else seems to run. I suspect this is fairly common and is there a cure for it? I have a very art led sort of development programme in place and new (or rather, quite old, which might be part of the problem).

Any ideas? Or do I have to go back doing boring stuff like having relationships, washing regularly or not eating pies all the time? Scary.
