Actually, I have a question. I played a game where I was Dutch and I had an overseas colony that was actually larger and more productive than my original cities. Also, I had an angry Charlemagne and Gilgamesh on that same continent who had zero colonies. Should I have moved my Palace to the new world and trade off my original cities to a colony so I can avoid Charley?
in mid game you'd better pick a few "main" cities. and in the late game, you should build your national wonders according to it. and considering together with your civics, you should pick the capital.
if you have less cities in the new world, it is not a good idea to move your capital there.
and do you have too many cities? why would u give away your original cities?
well, i didn't get your point. are you in trouble with maintenance or growth?
did you start in a small island?
I'm more afraid of the civs in the Old World. I'm not concerned about maintainance as I have SP. I have an angry Charlemagne (current power leader), angry Gilgamesh and angry Ghengis in the Old World and I keep getting dragged into defensive wars. The other civ in the New World is a Pleased Suleiman. I felt that If I moved to the New World and make my old cities into a colony, I could possibly avoid wars if the colony is better at diplomacy than me.
Colonies share diplo relations with master. You'll just both get DoW'd on. The AI will probably target the civ on their landmass, but it's doubtful that the AI will fight better than you, even if you're bad at war.
