little help please

I own Civ II 2.42. I was going to use the patch I found here to upgrade to Civ II gold but when I went to that section there are 1,2,3,4,5. I'm not sure which to use or do I have to download all?

One other question... is there any diff between Civ II vanilla and gold besides the mp option and editor? For example, are there any actual improvements to the interface or mechanics?

The big one is the AI and how it handles diplomacy. See here. Apart from that, I believe the mechanics are the same. The interface is practically the same; they restructured the Civilopedia.
