Once again I will combine AW, RaR, with 25K culture. This time the level will be emperor.

What civ were we thinking of? IIRC there were several of the new RaR civs we hadn't tried.

[Edit: Looking at the previous post [Edit: in LK105] we would have Siam, or Tibet.

If we were feeling daring we could go for a random civ. Given that RaR AWE is a bit easier than C3C AWE I think we could have a decent chance even if we get unlucky.
 
Wow... it's been awhile.

I just "talked" it over with LK about signing up for this SG... and I'd like to sign up. I've been playing RaR in my away time from CFC and actually HAVE the time to play a SG. With 4 heavyweights and 1 cruiserweight, I think things are looking good too.

Mind if I bring up the end of the roster and join you guys in this SG?

I rolled a die to choice between Siam and Tibet. Tibet was odd and a 5 was rolled.

What is with me rolling starts for AW that have a first contact before 3500 BC? :rolleyes:

Sikkim is formed. I order up the only piece of culture available, a shrine.

(IT) It isn't culture, but I will squeeze in a wiseman for the science boast. It is a big early to try for a wonder at size 1.

Disease hits the 20K city.

Now the capitol is suffering from disease.

Summary:
There are no shields toward Stonehenge. For now it is a placeholder. It is open to discussion to change. I suspect it will become a different building or wonder.


We really need to get into monarchy to take full advantage of the floodplains. The initial empire is shown below. The warrior is expanding our map knowledge slightly so that we know where the third city should be. It don't want to explore to far with just 2 TG for a military.

We get Urbanization, Caste System, and are 3 turns from getting Writing and starting Dynasticism.

Spot Horses in 1500 BC.

Concentrated on growth which keeps science high. Built nothing.

Map is pretty much identical except our towns are slightly bigger (size 3 and 4). Horses are on the coast 2 squares Westward from our border.

In my personal experience high food, low shield starts are disasters. AW needs shields for military. I have never successfully started an LK series AW game with a high food, low shield start.

We need to get more shields ASAP. We will never complete cultural buildings with food.


The Great Wall is a better deal for culture. It is 8 less turns for the same 3 points as Hanging Gardens. I don't want to make the mistake of last game and not target the best deal for culture. The benefit of the wonder shouldn't matter.

BTW, what should I research after Dynasticism? (My thoughts are to head towards mining... obviously shield output is our greatest concern right now)

Well the first goal after getting there is a revolt into monarchy. We need to get rid of the chiefdom penalty. That will really let these two cities start growing.

We have several research paths:
1) Scrape mining to find the iron and get a forge built.
2) Weaving and Fermentation to location for luxuries.
3) Mathematics for catapults, but they don't seem as important in RaR.
4) Mysticism for the Oracle and to locate tobacco. The Oracle has a prerequisite, so I doubt the AIs will get this one.

The challenge with RaR is the military is mostly the upper part of the tree, but the best culture in the bottom part.

I had never seen this much disease from flood plains. What a bunch of total bull.

I had fixed the problem and had played the turns, LK. I didn't get any disease in my turns, but it seems you got Sikkim to 6 pop w/ little problems. Sorry about the confusion though.
