Load Game Help Needed

I just downloaded the complete edition of Civ4 on my computer. I started out with Colonization and quickly hopped into a Spanish campaign. After saving the game to check out the main Civ4 game I tried to come back to my Colonization game. When I loaded my save I was greeted with an unending stream of messages about Founding Fathers, having a caravel in Europe, and how I needed create a Pioneer. I continued to click through them but it never stops. For a split section in between messages you can click on other things, and I was able to turn off the tutorials and all other tips. But that didn't work I tried making anew save and loading that one, but again no luck. I can't fix this problem and its really frustrating me. Please help me.
