Looking for a mod with a high amount of decisionmaking

Greetings,

as the title already says, I am looking for a mod where the biggest aspect is the freedom of choice. Realism is not that important, but there shouldn't be any fantasy/alternative timeline modules. I started playing with "rise of mankind" and went over to caveman 2 cosmos. But I don't like their goal of having any possible thing from the real world in their mod, which also slows the game down by a huge amount.

Some things I really appreciate(with c2c as an example):
-founding new cultures with the appropriate ressources and landscape (in a result choosing a specific path how you further develop your civilization)
-many, many new civics and traits
-advanced espionage
-advanced combat
-more promotions
-revolutions
-more diversified religions
basically everything which helps the player making their own kind of strategy, apart from just having a "specialist economy" or "cottage economy".

Things I don't like are hyperrealism, where the fun falls by the wayside or content which just makes the game longer but don't really add something, for example (again c2c as an example):
-a prehistoric age (you focus on your capital, specific mechanics which forces you to start on a certain playstyle)
-capturing animals (a random factor, it enriches the atmosphere but the results are out of your control)
-too many new technologies (you have to research everything anyway, rather than widening your decisions you just lengthening the game)
-too many new buildings. This especially turns into a real hassle starting from the middle age, when building queues get +30 or more. and also don't add much decisionmaking, because mostly you can build the majority of them in a city anyway. (A good idea I came up while playing c2c would be reducing the number of buildings you can build in each era, because later you can so do much more in each turn, so you can still uphold your own strategy)
This shouldn't hinder complexity! I love complexity, but it should open more ways to play the game, not just having more variables.

I think you get the idea what I am looking for. I hope someone can help me out suggesting a good mod for me. :king:

To me it sounds like you want to step down the ladder of C2C to a more simple level.

LoR could be the way to go. Been awhile playing it, but I guess the simplicity yet revolutionary part is there

Thank you! I will download it. The Problem with C2C is that I can't actually reach the last era, because of bugs or playtime. When I play c2c, as opposed to for example fall from heaven or rise of mankind, I feel like doing boring things over and over again (building queues...sigh) while waiting for the next turn to come. I just want to have a big mod, while still having the chance to end the game in under a month.

Yes, LoR is a great mod, there's even a special version that has less graphics for slower machines somewhere.

Another mod that's really complex and a lot of fun is Pie's Ancient Europe... but I haven't played it in a while, so I'm not sure about the performance or speed of turns.

LoR is a great one. If you find you want more player choices, and you're willing to do a little yourself, you could get platyping's tech events http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=21923 and mess with it a bit. It makes an event trigger on the research of a specified tech. With a little effort, it could be adapted to give players important choices.

AND 2 is a resurrection of Afforness's ROM-AND. The current team is hard at work redoing the entire mod, and they update it daily. The current stable version is quite enjoyable to play, and I've had a great deal of fun with the new incarnation.

History Rewritten has also been updated (allowing a 50 civ dll), and I rather like the new itteration.

If you head over to the modpack thread, you can probably find several others to meet your requirements. It just takes some time for reading in order to find what your looking for :D.

I'm downloading the mods right now and playtesting them! Thank you for your contributions.
