Looking for DECENT duel players

US plays only medi on his premade maps, not interested in that
merle I played sometimes -were some decent game but his french conection lags horrible - together with him waiting every turn to end (even when nothing happens) and lagy fastmoves makes game no fun
Hannibal and DJmax are Ok players but no real challenge

"To wait every turn to end"? Thats what is the worst about Double Turns... But there are ways to avoid it. And I wont believe you dont know about it... So, just use it.
And another thing is Click Fest: allowing your opponent to be host will create some handicap, so that he will more often win click fest. That is not 100% fair, but having you move first is even less fair.
BTW, what ping is bad? 300 is bad?

Universal Soldier is second on the ladder, if he only plays medi on his premade maps, I don't consider his ranking legit.

It is such a joke! Noboby wants to play against you Tommyint, because you are not fair play, you insult other players, you décline games when you lose.
Anyway, you only play DUEL ( never other type) against new and unexperiment players because you are too affraid of loosing (in 5 month, I never see you win against a top 5 players. Oh, sorry : it MUST be their bad connection or another trustworthy excuse).
Merle, US, platov, djmax are the strongest, if you beat them, you are the best. But for the moment, you are just a joke.

nothing will ever change - allways so much envy for the top player - its like that since 5 years.

I honestly dont care at all if some1 think I am good or not - its Internet world - no1 know each other anyway in league there are like 30 people active whom I ll never meet - its not like you could earn money with civ.
All I want is a decent guy to play with - and I definatly think that there are better players then me out there - being good at any game is mainly a matter of experience (some IQ help) - and I dont play very much civ5 - I just havent meet these guys ...

What settings are "fair" for duels?
fair setting is whatever both players agree to
I like:
skirmish map
no barbs, ruins, CS
basicly a setting for a "true" duel - not influenced by luck stuff
in civ4 there was this mirror map being grea for duels - but skirmish is usually "fair" aswell

It was 24 and 0 or very close to that a year ago before you came back out of retirement. Also those wins could be 2nd place finishes in some instances. Not arguing anything, just letting those facts be known.
still havent meet any even semidecent guy out of league games, are these FFA players REALLY that bad?
I mean when reading what people say here in general and strat Forums its pretty obvious that 95% of guys are clueless, but then civ isnt a hard game and coming close to mastering it shouldnt be THAT hard

There are so many more singleplayer posts than multiplayer, and the number of people I see playing online is a tiny sliver of the number of games sold. Most people I encounter in MP approach it like a SP game, because that is how Civ is mostly played... in the last few months I am having to relearn all of the assumptions I have made in SP that allowed me to get fast deity wins. Now most people who play SP are still not playing at a high level, but they are having fun, that is a good goal I think.
An example today of an FFA... the first guy I declare war on takes it personally... later he tells me I am playing wrongly because he has played since Civ 1 and it is a building game... before turn 80 I am the last human in the game.
I am excited to play FFA players who post here, some of them have beaten me, which turn out to be the best games because I have to figure out what I did wrong.
The no-quitter group is cool, I am glad they invited me.
The league is great, although when you play Tommynt in a duel it feels like a mad crack-fiend is wilding swinging a sword at your head while you are stuck in quicksand... it appears that is the proper technique for winning duels, I am winning a lot of duels quickly by being a mini-tommy.
thats like a chessplayer asking you to kill all his units before checkmating him.
Or even worse more like a madman torture the lambs before killing em.
I prefer being the soldier doing the headshot before other ones knows about it.
Why drag out the win if u win anyway?

Beating Deity has nothing to do with MP.
You win Deity by:
- selling luxuries for 8gpt each
- making tons of RAs
- advantage in proper use of GS
- tactical stupidity of AI
On the other hand MP requires:
- click fest
- insta heal
- watching battlefield as much time as possible
