Losing my UI

I've not played the game for about six months and came back to it yesterday. I started a game with nearly all my old mods from back then, plus a new Pokiehl mod, Civilizations Expanded, but around the mid-teens turn, my UI disappeared completely and when I hit Escape, a number of the options where greyed out - Load/Save game etc. I've been unable to bring back the UI at all. I was able to log out of the game just fine though.

I turned off the new CE mod and tried another game and the same thing happened, again around a mid teens turn.

I then looked at all the Steam Workshop for all my existing mods for any chatter relating to disappearing UI and the only mention of it was on Sukritact's Ethiopia mod which I didn't have active, but I unsubscribed anyway. That didn't help.

Soon, I will start turning half of my mods to narrow which one might be causing it, but I thought I'd ask the community first if they've come across this recently. If they know of mods that might cause this, or suspect that my game may be corrupted and need a reinstall - it's been sitting on my desktop installed, but unplayed for months.

Thank you Laurana. I've just run through 50 turns of a new game very quickly and it seems to be working fine after I deleted and then unsubbed from Slide Notifications and Simplified Gossip. Before I start my next proper game, I'll look at installing the fixed code.

Thank you so much, you just saved me a bunch of time and frustration going through each mod.
 
Also, Map Tacks has been rolled into the base game at least for Gathering Storm. No idea if running Map Tacks causes issues if enabled when running Gathering Storm.

The mod Map Tacks can still be used in addition to the "official" version. Bradd Szonye (BWS/bszonye) has made a few additional changes to the interface.
This optional add-on makes a few small changes to the official interface:
  • improve the editor layout for Gathering Storm districts
  • fix some in-game text that still refers to map pins instead of tacks

The FXS version of the Map Tacks mod was added to all versions of the game with the Antarctic Late Summer update.
[ALL GAME VERSIONS] New and improved version of Map Pins (now called Map Tacks) that includes pin icons for many new specific markers (Districts, etc.), in addition to a new grouped scrollable list of pins that were placed. Thanks to Bradd Szonye for his Mod inclusion!
