love civ 3 but cant play civ 4

ok can some one help me first problem
i can install the first disk but when it asks for the second disk my computer locks up and won't install it ,it just shows me whats on the disk then the darn box wont leave the screen unless i restart my computer next problem
i click the inco on my desktop and it asks me for the proper disk so i put the first disk back in and it gives me these 2 error massages XML LOAD ERROR failed loading xml file asset//xml/gameinfo/civ4playeroptioninfos.xml.and the next masage that pops up after i close the first one XML ERROR load xml call failed for game info/civ4playeroptioninfos.xml.current xml file is :
can any one help me i really want to play the game i meet or exceed all the recommended system requirements

There was an xml error in the initial release, this was fixed in subsequent patches - have you loaded Patch V1.52 ?

it said the game is not installed funny but i do have the icone on my desktop

Did you download it from Direct2Drive ? If so, you will have to wait for the V1.52 Patch to be tweeked as per their terms & conditions. They usually get them out a few days after the official release

mine only has 1 disc

The European distribution was - in most cases - DVD, so there will only be 1 disc. Virtually all in the US had 2 x CDs, so if you are in the US then a disc maybe be missing if its CD you have not DVD.
