Lua Question

How do you get lua? Do you have to download it? Does civ 5 come with it? There are a lot of tutorials on how to write a lua script but I can't seem to figure out how to get things so that I can even start this process. I have Modbuddy and have followed Kael's instructions with regard to writing xmls but can't figure out how to get this stuff working/in the game. Any advice would be really appreciated!

All that you really need for Lua is a text editor. Notepad or Wordpad works fine. I really like SciTE.

Civ comes with it embedded, lots of the existing UI is implemented using Lua. It's a core feature of the modding system.
