Make Civ Great Again - with SIMS vibes?

Those changes would make civ an even more strategic game where things like population, culture, religion, trade and government would matter even more.
You're thinking of Civ4. ;)

A mix of Civ and Europa Universalis would be nice. Real population numbers, people of different cultures living in the empire (having impact on the state), dynasty mechanics in monarchies, parties and elections in republics, better trading system, supply & demand mechanic, population needs and some sort of administrative capacity.

Yeah, I'd like that.

But we got Lovelace and mandatory civ switching.
New games expansions, before DLC ruined it, where focused on two major aspects. One adding new civilizations. Two adding a pack of good scenarios, with unique 3D units, arts, rules...Under those conditions it was possible to create say ancient Rome fall scenario, with families factions inside your government, dictating internal politics and external relationships.
Old World has taken it next level. I wish a lighter approach was true in Civ style. With some masonry restoration... bricks of core civ, enhanced a tiny bit, it would look great.

It still can work with the current game trajectory, it just needs to comb away the nasty nodes...

My fear is that some key dev has bet cut slashed when he got to the nodes...
