Make Civ4 check a different drive for CD-ROM?

So my install is insisting on looking in drive D: for my CIV4 CD-ROM when you start it up. I want it to look in Drive E:, because D: is my DVD writer and I want to be able to play and write DVDs at the same time!

Any way to do this? Do I have to re-install using drive E:?

Thanks.

This is a strange problem: probably you have installed CIV using drive D and now it requests Drive D.

You cannot use a no cd crack because this is illegal.

You can try to change the drive letter:

sorry but I have Windows XP in italian version so the terms could be differents (I try to translate)...

open the "control panel" (start/settings/control panel)
open "administration tools"
open the application "computer management"

in the left pane select "disk management"
on the right you should see all your fixed disk units
right click on the drive you want to "rename" and select "change the letter" from the popup menu: it will open a new dialog window
in the dialog window click on change and then select the letter you want and click ok "everywhere"

So you can reinstall the game or swap the drive letters...

rename D -> X
rename E -> D
rename X -> E

I hope this helps...

EDIT: if it is usefull someone could translate this "micro-tutorial"

Wow.

That's weak.

I'll just break the law I guess. Way easier than jumping through those hoops!

Thanks for the info tho!
