Map Making Tutorial/Resources?

I just picked up a copy of CIV 3 ($1.80 on Steam) and am excited to try to make a map from the the larger user maps. So far Im not having a lot of luck. Ive been searching the forum here and using google, but cant even seem to find the manual for the game. I suppose Conquest would be the version I would want to use.

Can anyone refer me to good tutorials or explanations of how to make a scenario out of the user maps?
