Hey guys and welcome to my first mod! Yes it's a rather long name, but its very simple. Civilization 5 is a great game but something bugged me while I was playing. Almost consistently I found myself entering the Classical Era around 2000 BC. This upset the historical feel of the game for me so I decided to fix it.
Here's basically what the mod does:
If your familiar with the CIV5GameSpeeds.xml file, you will know that each game pace is broken up into different sections, with different months per turn for so many turns. What I did was make the first section of the Marathon game pace run at 192 months for 175 turns and the section following it 120 months for 170 turns. The result is that the eras sync up better with their historical counterparts.
A few things to note:
-The first section is so that 16 years pass by with every turn, as opposed to 15. This could make for some funny dating, but that's a minor detail that I don't people will worry about.
-Because of the changes, the game will only go to 1445 turns instead of the original 1500. Sure, you might need those extra 55 turns, but again its a minor detail.
Q & A:
Q: Is this mod compatible with other mods?
A: For the most part, yes. The only file in this mod is an XML which (if I'm not mistaken) can be mismatched with other mods. The only exception might be mods that also effect the game pace, so keep that in mind.
Q: Does this mod change any other game paces?
A: No, it only affects Marathon. That is, any games at Quick, Standard, etc will not be affected.
Q: Can I use this mod in another mod?
A: Obviously you are free to use this mod for your own personal games. If you decide to include this in another published mod, please don't forget to give me credit for my work.
So that's about it. This mod might be small but it took several hours to get to this point. There's certainly room for improvement so if you think something needs to be changed so don't hesitate to post your thoughts on this page. Download link is below and I hope you enjoy it!
