Mass moving units? (eg 90 tanks)

Well, I like being a warmonger - it is a good strategy - esp if you start erazing smaller civs.

The problem is that moving 90 units is very boring.

Is there a way (key shortcut / mod or other) to say for example to my 50 canons "bombard this tile" or go there? Moving all my units to eg where a transport is takes toooo much time..

I would also like to either give an order to all units of the same tile or to all units of the same type.

Also do you know where I could find the key shortcuts?

Thanks!!

to move all units on a tile hold "j" when u move them.

thank u!

btw excellent site...

I think there should be a thread for units - eg is the cruise useful at all?

The cruise is useful because it's the only bombardment that can kill, and it takes fewer resources than some of the more mainstream modern weapons. If the victim is weak (already yellow or red) there's a good chance the cruise will kill it. (It will, if the target is red.) So they're handy for sinking ships near your coast, or as emergency defences, or in throw-everything-at-it attempts to weaken an incoming death stack.

They're nice standbyes for island-continent defence, backed with artillery. (Cruises are consumed when you use them, so artillery is better for weakening.) You can take out incoming battleship/transport pairs and kill off any units that manage to land if you have enough artillery and some cruise missiles to finish the job.

So it can be an ass-saver if you have oil trouble.

They can also kill weakened ground units reliably, so a stack of artillery and a pile of cruises can help hold back incoming modern armor if you're technically behind or resource challenged. Your tanks will regulary die against yellow/red modern armor or mech infantry; cruises won't fail.

I like to keep a them on sentry on a spot of safe land, because they sort of dance up and down and give the map a little life.

Do you need a patch to hold "j" to mass move the units? I couldn't do it on my games

from the readme file
Vanilla Civilization III:
Additions v1.17f:
<snip>
* Added stack movement. Hitting 'j' will produce the goto cursor. Once you select a destination, every unit of the active unit's type in that square will move to the specified location. Air units of the same type will attempt to rebase.

Note
For some bizarre reason know only to Firaxis they changed the group move in PTW. In PTW (any version) J moves EVERY unit and CTRL-J works like J used to in the 1.21f basic game.

Keep the interface consistent? Nah, why bother

hmmm, 90 tanks across an ocean, transports!

also, the Koreans' Hai-Choi or watever its called can kill units too
