Ok I am putting together a MASSIVE STRATEGY GUIDE. I need everyones help in this undertaking. I already have downloaded all of the pages in the War Academy. Most of the info in there is outdated and needs to be updated.

I need everyones help by doing this:
If you have any strategies put it in a word document or text file and either post it or e-mail me at
widereceivernumber89@yahoo.com

Massive strategy guides will scare away people. If you put chapters in it, then it will have the exact same effect as many different articles, but with more hassle.

Yeah I think it's a good idea, somtimes it's hard to find exactly what your looking for on here. If it were all in one place (lol and not outdated) it'd make things alot easier.

No:

There are many articles people can read.

Your attempt will only create more of the same. You will not be able to be complete and not outdated unless you spend time on it every day as long as the game is being played.

a massive strategy?
i dont think it can be done realistically.
it will make more of the same multitude of articles.
but if youd like to update some topics, that would help alot.
for example - a guide to early warfare, a move upto monarch transition guide, traders guide, a builder and warmonger's guide, etc.
or as an after thought - a F.A.Q. guide that will include most newbie questions, like "how do i know who knows whom?" or "why use the luxury slider?"

Yes, a short and simple newbie guide i think would be usefull.
The articles are mostly written for players who have at least a slight clue about the game and don't need to ask why their cities all of a sudden start to riot or why the city doesn't grow.

A short guide would be easy to link to in answer of the repeated newbie questions in the forums.

It should be kept short and simple though. Possibly, the newbies are not as deeply addicted to the game yet and don't feel like reading multiple pages.

Not good... The info is all here, it's pretty easy to find, and it will all be outdated in about 9 months. When it is separated as it is now, people can choose what they need to know. Collecting it would make it a bit harder for people to sort through - most probably wouldn't try. Finally, when people have a particular problem, it is easy to give them a link to the proper tutorial. If it were a big book, quick links would be harder, or impossible.

Good idea. Think it would be best to separate into difficulty levels. Discribing certain tactics. How to achieve your goals? . What you will need to know for the next levels. Also have a section that deals with standard issues, such as the value of certain terrain squares, Units, buildings, wonders, .... And a separate section on military strategies: When attacking use bombardment, bring artillary with your advancing units, .... The information is all here! It just needs to be sorted out a bit. Please don't get me wrong this is not a knock on the site what so ever. I think this is the best site for civ questions. But if someone wants to dig in and organise a little all the power to them. Go for it!

Plus it'll be like a help guide.

it'll look like this say you need some type of strategy on how to take a country out effectively without hassle.

The chapaters will look like this:

How to destroy a civ without hassle
-Ancient
-Middle Ages
--Using siege weaponry
-Industrial
--Using Industrial Tequniques
-Modern
--How to avoid a nuclear war
--How to wage a nuclear war

It'll look like that with sub-categorys but probably not in those exact words

I think it's a good idea, but it's pretty much already been done, several times. Just go to gamefaqs.com and find Civ 3.

However, most of those are outdated, and they are in hard-to-read text format. If you made one in HTML format, possibly with screenshots, that you updated with new stratagies every few months, I would read the whole thing top to bottom in one sitting.

Yes I am putting it into HTML format and sorry no pics yet cuz it is still in the process of being made.

I am making it with:
Microsoft Word 2000
Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX 2004

So I need help with this so please post strategies in a text document or something so it can save me from hunting a whole lot and reading too.
