Hi all. I've just found a small and easy hack to speed up diplomacy quite a bit.

Just like you can skip the startup logo (see link above), you can also disable the (long) fade-in/fade-out of leaders in diplomacy, that occur when you initiate talk but also during talks when they "switch screens" from animation to diplomacy menu. All you have to do is replace LeaderScreen_WashIn_Mask.bik with a blank bik file such as the one found on this site (friendly reminder, always scan downloaded files for threats). The safest way to do this is to rename this file changing the extension to .old or even .deleted, this way the game won't use it, but it's still there if something goes wrong and you need to revert back to the original files.
There are still some fade-out delays at times, such as when a leader gives you his introduction after the first meeting but it will save some delays.
Of course since you are basically replacing game files, there is a risk the change will be lost after an update and will definitely be removed if you verify your game cache through steam so keep this blank video in a safe location.
Hopefully once the modding tools are released someone will figure how to properly overwrite game files using a mod or a pseudo dlc pack.
