Minor Problem but plz Help. HD 720p wont load Civ4.

I know its a minor problem but any help would be appreciated. I have a Nvidea GEForce 6800XT video card that I run to my HD TV thru component or DVI. The game looks incredible in 1080i mode but the ingame font is way 2 small & games like Civ just aren't enjoyable in 1900 x 800 or w/e it is resolution. Also 1080i it makes Oblivion nearly unplayable because the requirements on the game are so insane even after major ini. tweaking & overclocking. So I have to reduce to 720p mode which I can live with but 4 some reason when I load Civ 4, I get a failure to initialise renderer error message saying to upgrade my graphix drivers & direct x. I went back to 1080i, no problems. Switched to 480 & 520 SD & EDTV modes & no problem. 4 some reason the game wont run in 720p & switching around resolutions between games & resizing the desktop everytime is getting annoying not to mention the fact that the game ( fonts ) would look & the game would run even better in 720p mode & the gameplay would be more enjoyable. I havent installed any of the patches yet & that is the next step but i didnt read anywhere that it covered this issue anyway & on dialup 40 some MB is gonna take awhile. I would greatly appreciate any help.

It won't because you need height of at least 768 (1024x768) to run.

Thanks but thats not what I mean. I can run the game in 1900 x w/e mode, 1600 x w/e mode ( aka 1080i HD Format ) & no problem except the in game text is really, really small. The patch fixed this some but its still barely legible. The graphics & effects are incredible but Civ4 is a gameplay 1st, graphics like 4th type of game & it becomes annoying having to get up, move close to the TV just to read some text & then back down again to play. I searched for another 30 mins. & found this old post & my answer. Not sure if anyone else has the same problem but the solution is CiV4 for w/e reason will not play in 720p HD mode. Every other game I have tried will, yet another annoying bug to this otherwise great game. Starting in 480 & 520 HD modes is just not an option as your desktop & games look horrible so the only solution is running in 1080i HD mode & getting some laser eye surgery. I hope the company that made CiV4 got some kind of kickback for all the HD users needing eye surgery after an hour of playing so hopefully CiV 5 wont have the same problems.
