Hi

I've tried to install the GOTM-supportfiles before, but wasn't sucesful.
Today I noticed a userfriendly setup-program for Total Install GOTM 21 so I got started. During the setup, the application reports a missing file:
...\Civilization III\art\resources.pcx.

I scanned my computer and I have several of those files, but not in the required directory.

I have CIV III patch v.1.29f installed.
I also have C3C installed.

What should I do??

What it is trying to do is to back-up your original resources.pcx file. This file provides the pictures of the resources in the game, and the GOTM uses different resources from the normal civ game.

Can I ask whether you are trying to install the PTW version or the Civ 1.29 version of the GOTM files?

Ok - I'd suggest you actually try the PTW version (if you have conquests, you have PTW ;) )

The reason is that in the Civ3 version, you have to change your resources.pcx files over everytime you want to go back and play a 'normal' Civ 3 (1.29f) game, or the reosurces are messed up. Because PTW supports scenarios better, you don't have that problem. :)

If you want to go ahead with the Civ3 1.29f version, then I <think> that your problem is that you might be installing to the wrong directory. Make sure you are telling the installer to install in the directory where your Civ3 is installed (especially important if you installed Civ to a directory other than the default one). :)

OK. Here are the problems:

PTW: You're right - I do have a PTW directory  (called CIV3PTW), but if I launch the exe in that directory, it prompts me (in French!!!!!) to load the correct CD. Which is in.

CIV3: I am trying to install into the correct directory. The file is just missing in that directory. I don't mind changing files - as long as I have 'em.
Is it a suggestion to copy the resources.pcx file from another directory? I have one in ...\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Art and one in ...\Civilization III\Conquests\Art?
Or do I have to re-install CIV3 ?

And thanks again for the quick help.

As I come to think of it, I might have done something wrong the last time I was trying to setup for GOTM. I do remember there was something to do about copying files. I might miss some other pcx's?

Is it a possibility that you mail me the the resources.pcx and possibly additional files?

As for PTW - yes, I do have the rght CD in the drive...

Ainwood,

Don't bother - I've un- and re-installed everything...
pcx available in the right directory...
PTW appears to be working...

Tx for your efforts... :goodjob:
