Does anyone know the details about this wonder? the description i got was that it adds production to water tiles. Does anyone know if its only for the city its built in, or all cities? Also, how much production it adds? thanks
They havent said how much production, or whether it is in that city or all cities.
Though im fairly sure its in just that city, considering its a national wonder and anyone can get it.
ROFL On my first game in BTS i'm playing as the dutch and i'm making a 4 squared island with a river on editer and food and tons of fish around and the put a city on it and research Moai Statues.
That's only 21 base hammers. 23 if the city is built on a plains hill with a strategic resource. Not hugely powerful. Though the food resources plus the industrial park might mean an easy conversion from food to hammers in the late game. That still leaves it as a less than spectacular early and mid game production city.
I have to agree. Coastal cities get screwed for production, which I find odd since most of the worlds population lives on or near the coast and they get things done.
Living in the middle of Canada, I can tell you we arn't producing things exponentially faster than, say, Detroit
I can't say I'm too excited about it as a national wonder... and the effects are entirely unfitting; just because you have some statues all of the sudden you can build things faster with the ocean? I know, I know, you can say something like that for just about every wonder, but still... And I'd at least rather have this as a world wonder; it's not like Moai statues are built all over the place... but then again, neither is oxford university or the globe theater...
Gamewise, I think it's a pretty cool effect though.
Does it provide the bonus in only one city, or in all coastal cities, similar to Colossus? I find the latter preferable.
I can see that this could be a big hit once the effect expires. If you were leveraging the bonus to do anything but build buildings, you'll be disappointed when your city returns to normal production for a coastal. I think I'd be inclined to use the production to build harbor, market, grocer and bank to maximize trade route income. Maybe you could sneak in a relevant wonder somewhere along the way.
I don't find it preferable for the same reason that I think it's unlikely to happen. The restriction of 2 national wonders per city was a nice idea in CivIV - the player had to consider the potential outcome of city placement and where each national wonder would go and which other national wonder it might be paired with. If the Maoi statues give production to every water tile then there is no strategic choice in its placement. Find a second string city with decent production and watch it provide bonuses to your Heroic Epic and Ironworks (or both) - too easy.
