Currently in GlobalDefines.xml you can set by how much the required Great People Points increase for the first couple great people. However as far as I know it isn't possible to edit what happens after you get IIRC nine GP and the GPP increase switches to 200 points per GP, and later to 300 GPP. Would it be possible to mod something so that you can set this too in GlobalDefines.xml?

That should be easy to do, my GreatPeople Point Pooling mod makes no changes to the "get Threshold" function which controls that aspect of the game. Some simple modification of that function could change the behavior to anything you could think of.

For example each GP could be X% more points then the last one resulting in an exponential curve or the Threshold could be based on your Civs Population or the Era you are in.

I was wondering if it would be possible to set an upper limit of 1500 GPP to get a great person?
Reason is if you follow a heavy GP strategy the cost of getting a GP increases much faster than the gold/labs/hammers you get from using that GP. So (unless I'm missing something - I'm not exactly a Civ4 veteran) as a consequence in the middle of your game you entire game strategy suddenly turns unprofitable... :(

Well I am doing a bunch of Moding that can make the raw specialist output a lot better so the specialists are on their own actualy usefull. The pooling of Points also greatly improves the efficiency of making Great People as their no long a City lagging behind unable to ever get a GP despite having hundreds of points.

Are you sure it switches to 200 at some point? I believe it is always based on your best city's great people point production and it is that value rounded up the the next 100. Thus when your city is producing 0-99 the threshold is 100. When your best city is producing 100-199 points a turn it goes to 200, etc.

That's an improvement but unfortunately won't change the tendency that a GP strategy will become continuously less useful. :(
