This is probably already answered somewhere, but after adding in some scenarios from here. Most notably after AoI4.1 I cannot play anything else. Crashing everything at 10% do to an error. Its probably something the mod caused when I added in its files to the directories. Other than reinstalling it... Is there something I can do to keep on playing everything else?

Sorry if this seems noobish, been playing Civ games forever just new here.

I am guessing a file is missing or corrupted. Reinstall is the only way to put everything back to original unless you backed up your CivIII folders and can figure out which file(s) is(are) the problem.

I had a game crashing interturn on me. I don't remember how I figured this out (probably backups, reinstalls and trials), but the Cleopatra leaderhead graphic had gone corrupt, and any diplomacy attempt with Cleopatra would crash the game. After fixing I found that on that particular interturn Cleo was busting in and making an offer or demand, and that's why it crashed.

Yea I figured a backup would work, after reinstalling as you said, but when i reinstalled it. It installed exactly the same f'ed up directory as it was before I uninstalled it. It was very weird how even when i put in the disks i've had for ages it installed exactly the same as it was before i uninstalled it. So what did I do?... I went to pirate bay and to toss out my 6 year old disks and use a pirated version. I'll remember to keep a backup saved from now on.

If you were installing on Vista or Win7 then you might be a victim of VirtualStore. It could present the symptoms you describe where you uninstall, reinstall then still have apparent file/folder problems:

My solution is to install to C:\Users\Public\Games\CivIII instead of under program files.
