Excellent discussion of tactics and strategies. I have used most if not all of the options discussed earlier, so I won't go into them.
One key, I believe, is preparation. Speed is of the essence, but to go off half-cocked can lead to disaster. You to be certain you will overwhelm 10 or more AI cities on your first turn. It knocks your opponent out of the game, basically, and leads to at least that many AI cities falling into your hands on the next turn.
But I do like using the full arsenal available -- Stealth bombers and fighters, carriers, Marines, howitzers and armor, mech inf, battleships. It's rock and roll.
