I have read tutorials about adding custom units but I can't seem to find how to just permanently change the stats of units in the basic game.

I know how to go into the editor and set custom rules and edit units but I want to save the changes to the current unit permanently into the game - is this possible?

Thanks

Hi Liquid675. Welcome to the site.

You need to replace the (read only) conquests.biq in the Conquests folder.

Much easier than I would have thought!

Thank you very much!

I have been trying to play on harder difficulties and this is just my opinion that when you get replaceable parts guerrilla units are underwhelming for the cost.

If you do not have rubber/saltpeter you are easily overran by infantry and cavalry as both are noticeably better options for the cost.

For example t I would rather build a rifleman as a defensive unit based on the cost as I do not think the bombard value is that great.

From your posts, I understand that you are about to enter the realm of Civ3-modding. This is an activity which is highly addictive, and could potentially lead to hundreds of hours (or more) of great fun. You are hereby warned...:)

Warnings be damned. haha

Yeah its already happening to me. I am now back into my just one more turn phase.

Liquid675...Welcome to Civfanatics

It is also equally additive to create New Graphics for your game such as Maps, Interfaces, Units, Leaderheads, Resources, Wonders and Improvements... same experience as building a New Plane then watching it fly as wanted.
It is a conundrum of how something as simple as making a minor Game adjustment becomes an advanced and extreme creative endeavor.
MOD ON.
