i realize this must be a moronic question, but how do i use modpacks???
i try downloading them, and then have absolutely no success in getting them to actually run on civ. any help would be appreciated.

down load them
open the ziped file
take the file out
drop the file into the mods file

thats what i've been doing...when i go to 'load a mod' and click on it, i get a message saying that the game needs to restart to load the mod...it does so automatically...and then when i go to load the mod again, i get the same message.
ps. am i theoretically supposed to do the same thing when loading a civ or anything else that someone else posted on the forums?

Here's what happens. It re-loads the game, and then you press "Custom Game" or you play a like you would a regular game. You don't need to re-load the mod once it's loaded which it sounds likw you're doing.

when you say "take the file out" do you mean the whole folder, or one part inside the folder? sorry, i'm kind of computer ********.

No, you put the mod folder in the Civilization 4/Mods folder.
