MOO1: Ship Appearances

Is there anyway to change which ship apperance is attached to each color at the setup screen?

The color is the one you selected for your empire at the start. You are stuck with it, unless someone has a mod.

I am not aware of a mod but it is theoretically possible. My first guess would be ships.lbx or ships2.lbx, where I think lbx is just some proprietary bundle format. There is probably documentation on reading it somewhere on the web (I didn't look). Then you can just edit the files and replace the originals to get new designs. I would expect this very old game is unsophisticated in regards to reverse engineering.
