More distinctive terrains mod

Another cool find.

alfa_plain_s.dds At first appears to be just a blue texture, but when you look at the red and green channel separately, you can clrealy see a monochromatic terrain texture. The red channel is used as i think a specular map for the arid plains. It's what makes the light bounce off textures when they are not in the middle of the screen. I'm attaching a screenshot of that effect with some test lines i drew on it to help investigate.

Looks good!

Your terrain already makes it 10x easier to identify miasma.

Can you change how miasma looks to something super obvious?

Yeah i'm gonna attack that next. Optimally, i want to decrease it's transparency and if possible, make it appear higher up above the terrain. I'll create a sparate mod for that, so that people can pick and choose what material they use as much as possible.

S is almost certainly specular. Though I haven't the foggiest what the others are. I'd probably be able to tell if I had a look though.

This has great potential, though if you don't mind some criticism, try to respect the general palette of the biomes. That green is too green for Arid: you can probably make it distinctive enough without saturating the colours too much. Same with the trees: how about experimenting and making them more along the lines of orange/red if the base yellow doesn't stand out enough?

Purple is fine for the Fungal colour scheme, but it'd be best without eye-searing saturation.

Thanks, i agree. I actually desaturated the green and made it blend in more in the most recent update. Don't have screenshots of that unfortunately so you have to try it out in game.
