Movies stutter

I've seen some similar threads but none quite the same. Ever since I got BTS, the in-game movies, wonders etc, don't play well; they stutter constantly, both sound and graphics. I've never had any problems with the movies with Warlords. I've installed the patch and it's still the same. Any ideas?

I've been having the same problem since installing BtS. In fact, sometimes the wonder movies actually crash the program. It seems random when they do that. The same wonder movie will crash the game twice in a row, and then work fine the third time.

This never happened to me with the original game, or with Warlords.

Well the game never crashes with me (touch wood) but it's unbelievably annoying not to see that wonder that I've scrapped hard to get being finally built. Hope somebody knows how to sort this

This is already being discussed in several threads. There is nothing to do,but to wait until a new patch comes along, and saves us all.

Ah I see, ok. Well it's a shame they've not sorted it already, here's hoping they sort it soon.

So I installed the 3.03 patch, hoping in vain that my stuttering movies problem would be solved, but as well as it still being a problem, my game crashed whenever I used the Civilpedia. So I uninstalled the patch and no more crashes. Except I want to have the patch before this latest one installed. I can't remember what kind of patch it was, but I think it was some bug fixes etc - but now the in game check for updates only finds the latest patch. Any ideas folks?

Also, I've been playing civ for a while, well, only since civ 3 really. I'm not too bad, tho not as good as most on the forum. The one thing in particular that I suck at is war/military. Does anybody know of any particularly good 'guides' on effective war waging/building a strong military?

Much appreciated,
Cheers

I think I've finally found a solution for the movie problems..! Open the civilizationiv.ini in your "beyond the sword" folder, and locate the following lines:

; Dont show the game background during movies - may speed up movie playing
HideMovieBackground = 0

Change this value to 1

; Dont show the game background during movies - may speed up movie playing
HideMovieBackground = 1

and try playing the movies now. I have yet to experience a crash with this option enabled, which means you'll propably be able to watch them as well. Let me know if this helps..!

Can anybody confirm or deny whether setting the following ini option fixes the movie cashes and/or stuttering?

; Dont show the game background during movies - may speed up movie playing
HideMovieBackground = 1

I changed that line, and with the 3.02 patch the movies still stutter, tho the music for them doesn't
