MP not working

Multiplaying is not working for me, and I don't know anything more to fix it.
I've shut down all the protect from my computer and uninstalled civ4 and downloaded new patches and I do have xfire on my computer, but still when I go to multiplayer and there lan-games, lobby is always empty. Just wondering what do I have to do to get it working or is it just that nobody plays it?

LAN = Local Area Network.

I'm pretty sure that only applies if you are on a closed network. If you want to play and see a full lobby you need to click on Internet rather than LAN.

Ok, tried Internet now but I still don't get in.
I created account to gamespy, verified e-mail and all,
but when I try to login it just reloads background animation and does nothing more.

I had the same problem at first. Make sure that you have allowed civ4 access through your firewall.

What I do when playing online is turning my firewall off and just leaving the WinXP one up. That works for me. Just remember to let Civ4 get in and out through it. It should be done during installation as I recall.
