It happened recently to me. A friend gave me some mp3 to listen to. I opened them using Win media player, as usual but instead of hearing a music I heard only zzZz bzzz crrrr sounds, exactly when a DJ scratches discs.. And on my friends computers, the mp3 is played fine. Actually I'm suspecting some of my nimo codecs. Since I installed them to be able to played xvid and other video divx format, apparently some of my old mp3 went wrong too when played using WMP. I tried Sonique and Winamp on those files and it was the same. So my question is: can the sound codec (AC3, etc...) installed from Nimo suite corrupt the original MP3 codec of Windows?

Never had that problem and can't see why the condecs should be the problem, but can't say what's your problem is. Try to uninstall the codec in any case and see.
