Multiplayer sign up help

hey, im new to the game and trying to play online, so ive made an account and all but when i try to log in a pop up comes up and says log in failed... even when i try to make a new account it comes up with 'log in failed'... It MAY be my firewall but i doubt it... can anyone help me?
