it would be nice to have the possibility to research more techs contemporarly

Why?

Researching multiple techs gets you all of them slower. If you do techs one at a time you get them all in the same amount of time but get the ones you work on sooner when you finish them.

I have to correct you Trip.
If you are researching a tech in 4 turns but not at max science you could allocate some beakers to another tech and thus getting more than one tech every 4 turns (or whatever the new limit will be).
And that is the reason i think it would be unbalanced and only an advantage to the leading civs.

don't think in civ classic viewpoint. Multiple research doesnt mean just the possibility to avdance in more than 1 tech, slowing the time of research. I think it is not right to study just a tech, for in reality it doesn't work. and in terms of culture progress 2+2=5, I mean multiple interests have interactions (hope is the right word, sorry for my english). so that the all system of tech advance would be modified, still don't know in wich way. for xample (just an example, maybe there are better ways to get the goal) maybe that the best performances would be developing 3 techs, and if you develope less you can, but in proportion you go slower, and so on.. Or maybe some techs give you advantages in discovering other techs (just like the old beloved board game advances civilization).

also, I forget, maybe the techs could be lost in periods of crisis! it is strange for me to think the civilization history like a continued evolution. History is made of pauses, steps back, and so on.

Assuming you can research faster than 4 turns per tech.

...

Also assuming the 4-turn limit is present in Civ 4....

I like the idea of reasearching another tech at the same time if you have extra beakers to put somewhere, and Trip yes it also depends on whether you can ressearch faster than 4 turns per tech and whether the 4 turn limit is present in Civ 4

to Trip,
you're right, maybe I have to explain my ideas. just sometimes I have an Idea, and want to say it without knowing how to reach it. I'll tell soon, now I have not time (I'm going to university right now...).

but anyway, at the moment it's just a general Idea. I study architecture, it's like to design. At the beginning maybe you have a general idea, then, studying it, it evolves and comes true.
And maybe that other people reading, would have ideas better than my ow!

4-turn research? Wow, haven't seen that for a while.

If you can do that, you pretty much already won. And it totally defeats the 4-turn mininum idea. So what's the point?

And then you can run min research on multiple techs so you get 3 techs in 50 turns by only min research? That's genius.
