Hi, I really like the intro music in civ1, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find out what it could be. Anyone got a clue?:)

Also - if you know about any good midi editor (importing/exporting...note writing,...) please help... (if such thing exists)

I believe it was an original composition. They remastered it in Civ4, but I haven't found the title for that one, either.

Cakewalk has a powerful midi creator. Or at least they did. I'm sure there are downloadable copies of their old midi tools somewhere.

While Civ1 uses midi music, I do not know how to extract it from the proprietary files; nor am I aware of anyone on this forum who has done so (however, I are noob, so that's not saying much).

Since you like the intro music, here's an mp3 of the Roland MT-32 version.

Hello,

I'm new here (and to playing Civilization).

I read somewhere here someone mentions a Civ Jukebox application.

Does anyone has that? Apparently it's an executive you put in the MPS folder
to listen to the tracks.

Personally, I don't like the opening track (soundblaster), but the others are
great.

If you're using the built-in Sound Blaster driver rather than the add-on version, all sounds are bugged, presumably due to incompatibilities between SB 1.0 and later versions.

My soundblaster sounds fine, the Roland MT-32 sounds weird at times. But some of the themes are better on Roland (Babylonian theme, for example), others just sound like Roland is using the wrong notes (Aztec, what was that?). Soundblaster is all neat and logical.

I really have to record all versions some day. I guess nobody has heard of a Civ Jukebox then.

If you can't clearly identify "Ode to Joy" during the We Love the [Ruler] celebrations, you have bugged sounds.
