Hi all,
I'm not totally sure I'm posting this in the right section. My question is about the Civ II version in Civilization Chronicles.
On the first disk, the install files can be found and the installation is from this disk. On the second disk is a readme that says the following:
'We were unable to fit the entire CD soundtrack for Civilization II, and most significantly, Civilization II: Test of Time on the first disc of this set. For this reason, we have provided the complete soundtrack, as well as equivalent copy protection on this CD. Just leave disc 2 in your CD-ROM drive while playing Civ II or Test of Time, and you will hear the complete musical score. The soundtrack is in CD-Audio format, so it will play in a CD player and can be converted into MP3 format for use on an iPod or other music player.'
So I tried this. I put the second cd in the cd-rom player, but when trying to 'select music' in the game, it says the cd is not in the pc.
Trying to find out if the music really is on the cd, I tried it in a stereo installation. If the readme is right, I should be able to play the music on that. However, there is no music on the disk. The cd player 'tries' to play it, but remains totally quiet (other music cd's play fine, so it's no problem with the cd player).
Programs on the pc like Itunes (or any other music program) do not recognize the cd as a music cd.
Another problem I encountered is that the 'council' in Civ II does not show movies, nor is there a introduction movie (just black till I hit the esc button). If I remember correctly (played Civ II 10 years ago for the last time), the movies only played when the cd was in the pc.
So it seems the computer does not recognize the cd with the music/movies on it (he does see a cd, which I can browse with windows explorer. However, the only music I see is from Civ IV (mp3's) and a Civ II.exe.
Anyone that knows how I can fix this and be able to play Civ II with music and councelors/intro movies?
