My Calabim Guide to FFH2

In my latest game I didn't build a single city, until I had about 6 or 7 conquered, and my 4 neighbors where dead. But then, 16 civs on a standard pangea map can get a bit crowded. :p

When I used to play MP, I usually didn't expand till after I got my religion. I concentrated everything on getting the most out of the capital. And once I expanded I sometimes tried to rush a Great Artist or two, to get some more territory from the few cities I have. (I used to play Alexis)

...this really interfers in an mp game with humans...
Well, that certainly makes a difference. I only play SP and usually without raging barbs (too much micro, and doesn't really make a difference besides slowing down early game expansion). So for me, I only need to get a few highly experienced T2 units before the AI declares war on me for being the weakest.

For your settings, maybe a more aggressive "forget the economy" approach would work better. Use slavery and farms to pump out Moroi, grabbing copper if you don't have it, and use Burning Blood liberally. My only other suggestion is to grab Festivals earlier for +1 happiness and to build up your gold stockpile. That works especially well with Flauros (double speed markets).

Spoiler :
Now that I started a revolution in a demand for a strategy sub forum and nikisknight (I think) made such a one (I guess thunderfall gave kael permission and that is nikisknight's new thread? or not?), should I move this post to nikisknight's (with his permission only of course) forum or if its a sticky with links than maybe he could link my post, but I'm not sure than were I should move my post to so its not in the way..I'm a bit confused..as what to do or what you want me to do with my post.
You can PM a mod to move this thread to the subforum but don't feel obligated to. Either way I'll leave it linked in the stickied Strategy Index thread, since as threads jump around there it'll be useful to have a categorical listing.

Two additions from my calabim games:
1) The moroi are underestimated. With their "Rage" or what it is called spell they are very good initial rush units. My first war with them is way before vampires come around.
2) The UU of the calabim tend to building a monostructured melee army. This is really dangerous and has caused severe mid game losses in my games, because the AI loves crossbows. They slaughter your upleveled, beloved vampires too easy if you don't use anti-archer promotions.

Yeah, Burning Blood is wonderful. Instead of sacrificing your Moroi at -50% odds, use Burning Blood, and charge in at 70%~ odds. If he dies, you did what you wanted to do, weaken the enemy unit. If he wins, he has 25% chance to survive the next turn. Save your well promoted Morois to finish of the defenders.

Anti-Archer promotions is a must if you are going to invade cities with your Vampires, and you are going to invade cities with your vampires. ;)

Always get Death II with your vamps, Contagion is wonderful atm, and its going to be nerfed in 0.22, but I believe its still going to be useful. It damages, spreads disease, and can even kill the entire stack of defenders.
If you are worried about getting your vamps diseased, attack with skellies, or drowns/stygian guards. Or bring a Priest of the Leaves or other Priest with Life II. Or just take the disease like a man. :)

Though the vamp hero losha can make any of these non-vampire type of units into vampires:D

All vampires can make other units into vampires, if they are lvl 6 or above, lvl 4 for Moroi. (Even units that once wasnt vampires, but now is, can make others into vampires)

Heh, don't forget to mention that they're also awesome hero killers. I still remember that MP game, way back, when you wiped out my Gilden with some well-placed Moroi.

Yeah, that was a nice feeling. Just the way Morois should be used.
