my first Clan game - some thoughts

Sounds like a fun game concept.

I've never actually tried this, but if you played on a Terra map, set it so that the world already has barbarian cities, and then used the Clan world spell, couldn't you in theory, have a huge army on a continent others will not find until very late game?

Of course, there may be a mechanism against this I am not aware of...

what's the point in having an army there, if you don't have the means to settle? for an army to be effective, you need something/someone to turn it against, which isn't likely to be found on the other continent

And before it comes up, (I know it will) once you have captured your new city, is it really that hard to lose your original capital to your nearest neighbor?

Free palace in your newly captured barb. city, and no rivals to stop your growth :p

Of course, it might not work anyway...

Except there is one rival, the barbarians. They have nearly an entire continent to spawn on and only one to attack - you.

and the upkeep costs to pay for them. Your best bet would still be to get rantine and beeline optics, and use your hero to convert the entire continent to your side.

Maybe, but its probably a bit situational, depending on how many goody huts give you cash

also, if it still exists, if you got a settler from a goody hut on the "new world" you could form your own city, so you wouldn't have to declare war on the barbs.

Of course, I don't even know if you CAN declare war on them

Can only get settlers from huts up to and including warlord difficulty level.

And a good strategy, man. Don't forget strategy.
