My Multiplayer list shows absolutely no games

Hi there

I'm just wondering, is there a reason why my Civ5 multiplayer game page shows absolutely zero games listed?

I'm in Western Australia, if that helps answer the question.

Basically, whenever I click 'multiplayer' from the main menu, I get a blank page. Refreshing returns a blank page as well.

Is it some Steam/firewall error, or does nobody even play Civ5 multiplayer? xD

Thanks,

Finchie

i live in the UK and im pretty much the same, 1 or 2 games most of the time with usually 1 person in each

Steam uses a regional latency filtered games list, with fewer MP players around if you are not using NY, London or Frankfurt, likely you will just not see any games in your list. But feel free to come to the CivPlayers Steam Chat lobby, alot of MP players from around the world hang out their and using a steam chat room gets around the regional limitations of the games list used in the game.

Click on Chat(steam req) link on the left menu at www.civplayers.com

You can join games in a steam chat room by clicking on a hosts name in the list and clicking Join Game.

Ah, thanks for the nice explanation. :)
It's a pity I can't just join a game from the multiplayer list though. I guess Firaxis didn't really consider putting much effort into the multiplayer in Civ5.

We have asked for a Global games list and a global lobby, but until they hire that Network Engineer/Programmer that Firaxis is advertising for, I doubt we will see any major MP changes.

Some enterprising person probably already has programmed one, they did for CIV when there were really bad connection issues. Although this couldn't get around many problems, like living on the bottom end of the planet. Not that steam would appreciate that much I'd imagine though. ;)

Ya I don't think steam is going to let 3rd party programs excess it's servers, it's a tad more secure than Gamespy was. Though you can do many interesting things with the Steam API, creating non-steam chat rooms is not one of them.
