Actually, in my experience, the AI civs have no respect for the power of my nuclear weapons. When I have them, their diplomatic text is modified appropriately, their actions are not. In fact, as soon as the first nuke rolls off the production lines, the AI declares open season on my civ with spies and diplomats. I have learned the hard way to have at least one spy in every city before I build nukes. Anything less would be. . . uncivilized.

"What do we want? Tickets to the Met, Broadway, the shops, civilization, man, that's what we're looking for. Oh, we may stumble along the way, take this fellow for instance. . . *BLAM*
Now was that civilized? Fun, yes, but in no sense civilized."
