Hello.

I may have stumbled upon a bug (though each time I start like this, someone makes me feel like a moron a few minutes later...).

Playing as Pericles, I was given the Sports league quest: build 11 colosseums, plus (if possible) the Statue of Zeus.

I did build the required colosseums (way before the quest went obsolete) but got nothing in return. Why?

Note: I don't think anyone completed it before me, and I never saw the "You have failed the quest" popup message.

A possible explanation would be... a bug: Pericles is Greek and the Greek UB is the odeon, that replaces the colosseum. Therefore, maybe Greeks (and other Civs with a colosseum-based UB) simply cannot complete this quest, because the game refuses to acknowledge odeons as colosseums? :crazyeye:

Anyone experienced anything similar?

I think that is a good guess as to what happened. If you click on the little pencil writing on the book in the upper left hand corner then you can look at your quests on the quest tab. If it still shows up there then it is still active.

There's nothing there... But I'm pretty sure noone has completed the quest before me, and it's not obsolete.

Could be a bug with this particular UB. Here are the pre-req's for the Sports League quest:

Quest8:
Sports League
Prereq: CONSTRUCTION
Obsolete: RADIO or REFRIGERATION or PLASTICS or SATELLITES or ADVANCED_FLIGHT or ECOLOGY
Active/Weight: 25/500
Aim:
Build default number of players for this world size Colosseums (7 for standard)
Result:
1.+1 happy face for every Colosseum
2.+4 culture for every collosseum
3.IF you control the Statue of Zeus wonder trigger a golden age

And can be found here (along with the rest of the events/quests):

I checked here to see if there was a requirement for a religion on this quest. Some quests can end if you cease having a state religion. This is obviously (from the link provided, unless there is an error) not your problem. It's been a while since I had this quest or even seriously thought about completing it myself, so I cannot recall off memory how this one works. It's a good bet a religion is not required for this one.

In my current game (with Pericles of Greece) I actually did complete the sports quest using odeons, so the quest can be finished that way. Did not have the statue though, so ended up with the +1 happy face award, which is still nice of course.

All right... So I must have missed something... But nothing showed in the log, nor on the replay.

I would really like it if they fixed the quests. When they tell me to build 11 colosseums when i only have 4 cities

I think you get 11 when it's a huge map. If you only have 4 cities, you probably have more important things on your mind than building colosseums. Like being 1/4 the size of your neighbors.

I have gotten this quest as Pericles - it happened fairly far into the game, and I had already built the required number of Odeons and I had built the Statue of Zeus.

Next turn, it told me I had successfully completed the quest - I took the free Golden Age as happiness was not an issue.

So I don't think there is a bug because of the Odeon / Colosseum issue (I use Bhruic's patch, by the way).

Just got this in my current game as warmongering Victoria. Although I had the Statue of Zeus too, I had to take the +1:) option as war weariness was an issue. The Golden Age just wasn't the right time, but I question whether I should've taken it. :(

I have played as Pericles before and have gotten this quest so I don't think it's a bug.
