First off what nationality do you consider yourself, and if you had move to another country, considering all the different cultures and communities in which you could choose, which one would you join?
I consider myself to be an American, but I admire the candor and wisdom of the Dutch and I think I would move to Belgium.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I'm an American, but I am of Greek and English decent. I consider the United States my homeland.

I concider myself:

  1. Dutch (AMSTERDAMS)
  2. German (SCHWÄBISCH)
    [/list=a]

Johan, you better move to the Netherlands! Not to Belgium. The only good thing about Belgium, is how they make Belgian Fries and Chocolat.

I am a Swedish guy. But if I had to move I would move to some nice place like Spain, Italy or France. But I wouldn't turn down the USA either.

I was born in Russia, but I consider my self as full Israeli. Like 20% of the people here...

I am Canadian (French and Irish roots), but I'd rather live in any place where the damn snow doesn't fall in april!!!
Southern Europe could be a nice place but I'd go there only for vacations, and I'd live either in the US or in Northern Europe.

I am of German descent -second generation actually, my granparents can barely speak english. If I were fluent in German I'd return there. But I'm not, and I just want to go back to my birthplace -Philadelphia. F*** Salt Lake!

I'm descended from Russian and Lithunian peasants in shtetles, but I'm fourth generation, so I feel no connection to these "mother countries."

I consider myself a fully assimilated American, for better and for worse.

But if I had to move elsewhere, it would be Israel. (I've already had two trips there.)

I was born in oklahoma but I consieder myself an oregonian.

I am an Alaskan first and an American second. But I plan to do a lot of travelling in my life, and I'll probably dwell temporarily in many other places. Japan is definitely on the list, as is the previously mentioned Vancouver, British Columbia. (Not because it's apparently paradise, necessarily, but for personal reasons.

) I'd also like to spend some time in Continental Europe learning Italian, Dutch, and Frisian. But when I finally do settle down for good, it will most likely be somewhere in England, the land of my ancestors. (I also have ancestors among the Germans, Swedes, and Cherokee, but I feel the greatest connection to the English.)

It's not that unusual. A lot of people are part Native American. I've even read that during the age of colonization, a lot of English men found the Cherokee women more desirable than their own English women, because the Cherokee women were, by their culture, more independent and willing to express themselves. It seems surprising that a European in those days would want such a woman, but then again, I suppose a woman with no mind of her own would be unattractive in any age. She certainly would be to me.
But then that may just be the Cherokee in me. Or the Swede; I've also read that Scandinavian women were the most free women in Europe during the Viking era, with more rights than women had anywhere else.

I am an American, who lives in Germany.
My great grandparents came from Germany in 1913 (Same boat!!!). 100% German decent.

I married a German woman and speak the language (Well enough).

I contemplate staying here after my tour is over, but absoulutely HATE Northern European weather. It's never hot, and it rains all of the time. Not good for a Nebraska boy (Always hot, no rain!)

I'm English. As far back as I've traced my family tree - which is not far, only 200 years - everyone is English.

However there is a hint of Swedish ancestry. I'm directly descended from someone 6 generations ago whose surname was Aspland. From the name it would seem his ancestors were probably Scandinavian. And there was a forename used for 4 out of the last 6 generations that suggests a Norwegian link.

My wife is American. Her ancestry is half German, quarter Sicilian, sixteenth Cherokee, and the rest a miscellany of Scots etc.
