1) Trading with natives. - If you plan good relations with natives, it is extremely proffitable to trade guns and horses with natives, especially helpfull it is to sell the first guns you get from the first soldier. On the other hand the King seems to ramp up the tax when he sees you suddenly making lots of gold and/or buying stuff in europe. It also seems that if you get 6k gold at one turn when your empire is quite big, it doesnt make the King go that crazy. How do you work around this problem?

2) Tax and throwing good parties. - When i refuse to get my tax raised, the King comes back in a turn or two with a tax raise, because he got angry. This happens consistently. Is it almost useless to throw good parties or shall i do it rarely and let him cool down?

3) Native dudes seem to be generating in either the great people of civ4 or by having one big points pool fashion. Either way they seem to appear in one or two villages, while some villages dont get any ever. Plus i never seen two natives appear in short amount of time, even if i missionaried two villages at the same turn. anyone knows how this works exactly?

One more thing. A little tip ^^.

If you want to settle in native land its usually better to buy some guns in europe and then either sell them to natives, or if they dont have any gold left, to give em as present or sell for whatever. This makes natives insta happy and lets you steal their land.

It can ultimately depend on leader personality. The only problem I had was with an impressionable and indulgent Apache leader. It ultimately didn't matter how many gifts I gave him, he still turned on me anyway.

of course, then you have to contend with *armed* natives. i'd much rather just buy cannons and wipe out any natives who have land i want. it doesn't significantly effect your relations with the other natives. figure out which ones you'll want to keep around, send them misisonaries, and then wipe the rest out with cannons.

You only get converted natives from villages in which you have placed a missionary (you can never recover the missionary BTW). Pretty sure that each civ has a missionary conversion rate that, like everything else, is increased each time a converted native appears.

I've never been attacked by a native yet, although I have seen them decimate other European colonies. Gives me the jitters, but I've found trading with them (and evading the king's taxes) is one of the best ways to build up cash for the war.

I find natives extremly usefull. But i also noted that if i steal their land they will attack me no matter what. It gives bonus in relations after they destroy your stealing city, so it might be used in some situations even.
