So I'm playing as Indonesia and I'm trying to take a city with a navy. Why can't my Jongs do a ranged attack on a city? I'm trying to use my caravels but only one can attack. What am I doing wrong?

Any tips for having a navy and attacking cities? Thank you

Screenshot? Range or line of sight are the first things that come to mind.

Ok, I need to figure out how to do a screen shot and post here. Sorry, lol kinda new here

The standard approach is Jongs bombard and a caravel finally takes the city. The main issue as said is line of sight but that means the city is not on the coast and co caravels cannot take it.

Windows has a snipping tool, use any snipping tool to copy the image and then just paste it directly into the thread, simples.

You by chance using the new Ipad version?

Steam tells me I’ve spent more than 800 hours playing Civ 6 and I had no idea that you could capture a city with a ship... Before I read that I thought the only way you could capture a city was with melee troops.

Melee here means any unit that does a melee attack, it doesn’t matter if it’s infantry, cavalry, or navy.

How many hours did you put into civ 5... :smoke:

You all were right and I am glad I tried again. I got the Jongs lined up and it worked. My issue was the line of site. I worked through it, thank you. Those ships took it easy
