That's what everyone should learn from to resolve 1upT, combat mechanics, Units flanking support, tactical features, immersive map interactions & what else -- Total & definitive solutions to many of "our" problems with CiV.

Mind you, i've played the original Hudson title on the Turbo-Graphx-16 console back in those days. Even bought an XBox-360 last fall when i heard Backbone Studios had successfully implemented a hugely modernized version of the same.

It's every bit as perfect for strategic context and relatively direct with gameplay assets.

Somehow... Firaxis dev teams *must* at least catch a wild ride on such stuff.

We may have a Stealth Bomber but lemme tell you there's nothing like Hunters dog-fighting hell & loose with Falcons or Eagles. And while the Giant might feel like your usual highly promoted Modern Armors that's only when a sneaky Rabbit swoops away from your best Slaggers as much as Artillery does to enemy cities.

In the meantime... read all about it here!

:goodjob: Great game aka Military madness, about the only thing I remember from the turbographix16. Me and a buddy played that for hours taking turns and against each-other. Beautiful in its simplicity and complexity at the same time (in a chess kind of way I guess).

Hows the xbox360 version? Might pick it up.

The only "Feature" lacking in the XBox version would certainly be a "Map_Scenarios" editor option!

Generally, the full 3D interface is superbly rendered and gameplay is nearly the same as the TGX. Same units (Commander is new though), slick UI, combat phase somehow flat out silly (nothing as complex as the old cinematic version found in the much older PSX title), swift help_guide and a Multiplayer bonus section (4 online or against 3 Ais!).
Moon terrain shades & colors are a bit annoying at first but the whole layering depth is amazingly easy to follow.
Animated KilRoys jumping, trailing dust effects when Tanks rollout.
The works.
At 600 MS-Points only, it's a freaky steal of a deal.

Here's an excerpt i sent last year to feedback staff for suggestions on eventual updates to this wonderful tiny prog by Backbone...

Spoiler :
-- Full blown Map editor where we can create our own scenarios and campaigns to share with anyone. ;-)
-- Bigger maps! The original (from Hudson on the Turbo-Grafx-16) had relative sizes like 1x1, 1x2, 2x1 & 2x2. There's plenty of room on screen for gigantic maps going as high as 5x5 if not more!
-- New Units... one that comes immediately to mind is a sort-of 'Spy/Engineer/Medic' that allows on_field_repairs and sabotage.
-- Libraries of 'Campaigns' found in other consoles or game versions. One must-do is certainly the fairly old (but sooooo great gameplay!) PlayStation_X 44 contest winning maps.

What's most fascinating about such a game is *HOW* the combat odds are calculated within surround factors, flanking, etc. Thus, why i think CiV could use such a "system" for evaluation.

Poke, yep... i knew about that site too.

Nectaris and its sequel Neo Nectaris were awesome games! I played these on my buddys Turbo Graphix forever ago. We had to memorize all the commands on neo nectaris cause it was in Japanese lol. I got the redone version through xbox arcade, just the same with better graphics.

Hey, Methos... not questioning your action here but this thread is now buried in some obscure area of the forums!
Might have been better served into the "Ideas & Suggestions" for devs to consider but it's really my fault for having focused on Nectaris hex principles rather than some general phrasing of context.
Bof, it's alright. ;)

Yup, i knew that... it's just that Nectaris hexagonal map system seems soooooo close in principle to what we must use in CiV 1upT technicalities.
If a moderator decides to move stuff around these forums, as i said earlier - and will certainly repeat - if brought back up to the subject by anyone "observing" my comments, i am NOT questioning their action... but still feels such a thread belongs in a Civ-5 related discussion more than in a general "Other Games/All other games" sub-section.

Case closed -- and buried, AFAIC.

Bad wording, sorry. But you might understand (since you're from Québec too!) why English is only a second language to me since i'm from Chomedey_Laval, born & proudly raised as a french-speaking-Québecois.
One thing you have to admit with me though is that there has to be MUCH less traffic here than in the usual dedicated Civ-5 areas.

Alors, on verras! De toute façon je n'avais que cela à faire depuis quelques jours et le transfert du message par un modérateur était un peu "Forcé".

TRANSLATION; Then, we'll see. Anyhow that's all i had to do for a few days and the moderator's post move was a little "Enforced".
