Need a new graphics card

My GeForce 6600 is now borderline minimum spec for most games coming out now and I'm looking to upgrade soon in the sales.

A few slight problems:

1. Some of 8800 series graphics cards are too long. The ruler is downstairs at the moment so I can't measure it right now, but the graphics cards are around 275mm long, which would overlap with things hooked up to the motherboard (I've measured it before).
2. Secondly, there's a small fan on what (I think) is the northbridge. Not too much of a problem really, but most new cards would go over the top of it (because they seem to be the equivalent of 2 'ordinary' graphics cards tall).

I'm trying to cut down on noise from the fans on my PC while keeping its performance high, so I'd like a decent card that doesn't make a lot of noise.

I have a 520W PSU. I have also been considering getting a new motherboard so that I would be able to avoid the above problems, but that would create a few problems of its own: 1. I don't have a clue about motherboards. 2. I would have to take my computer to pieces, and 3. I would have to buy a new case, most likely.

Can anyone suggest any to me that you think might fit the bill?

Pretty sure mine are PCI-E

Right, About 225mm along I have a cable (a ribbon-like one) going to my DVD drive. That's measure from the very inner edge of my case (I don't know if they count the length of cards from there or from the actual green board (I forget its name). So I'm not 100% sure if the eVGA 8800GT would fit...

I'm looking at this at the moment: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-003-PN
