I realize that this probably not a civ specific problem, but I really do need some help. My computer is currently running XP upgraded from ME; whenever I try to install Civ 4, the error message "cannot find w9xsetup.bn." How do I restore this file? Is it an XP problem, or is it a leftover from awful ME? Thanks.

Unfortunately, it is a WinME file, apparently. It might be a good idea to search for it on the internet - I did a brief one, but couldn't find much useful info (w9xsetup.bin). Maybe ask on the M$ Newsgroups?

Did you install XP over the top of ME, or from scratch? If you have an appetite for a reinstall, then you could format your hard disk, and then use your XP upgrade disk to install - it will ask you to insert you ME disk to verify that you're eligable for an upgrade, but you don't actually HAVE to install ME first. Unless you got a factor instal of ME, on some hidden partition of your hard drive, in which case I'm not really sure how to upgrade properly :( Ask around on dedicated tech support forums.
