Need Tips/Know-Hows With Modding

I started to use GIMP to create a DoM picture, but it didn't work. I took your advise in finding the nVidia dds plugin and got that for Photoshop (which is the only editing program I use for such cases).

As for the tutorials, I'm still uncertain where to find them. All I can seem to find is how to create icons and whatnot for buildings/units. Where would this type of tutorials be for leaders (civilopedia, DoM, and diplo scenes).

Sorry for the double post, but I have found out how to create these files by opening up other .dds files in Photoshop. I apologise for my constant questions about them when all I needed to simply do was look at one already finished

Anyhow, being that I am making the leader for Russia right now, I question: what is all needed done to get the leader working in game? The DoM does work, but I still see Catherine as the leader. Do I need the leader icons, Civiliopedia, uniques, and special ability finished before it will replace?
