Hi guys!!

I was trying to reinstall Civ4 in my pc when lights when off!! Result, the install is incomplete, but if I put the CD in, it ask me if I want to play, which of course then fails!!!

I can't uninstall and deleting the Civ folder doesn change anythingil!!

I'm sure a quick nip somewhere will allow me to install it again. Any suggestions?!?

Cheers!!

I am having the same issue. I cannot reinstall the game.

Specifically, I insert the correct CD. Proceed with the installation and then during the installation it comes up with this error message:

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component:Civ4Component
File: d:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The only option is to select "OK". After that, it exits installation window.

I had the game installed previously with no problems.

Please help. I want to go back to playing the game :(

danybat:

Don't use the auto-run splash screen. Simply browse the game disc and run the setup file to begin the installation.

wapamingo:

Chances are, the problem is with the disc itself. Clean the disc, check for scratches, then try again. If you do find scratches or other signs of damage, then you'll need a new disc.

Thx guys.

It was a problem with the disc. It was scratched :(

Is there a way to get a new disc from the company by paying a lesser amount than buying a new game?

Before discarding the CD, consider cleaning it softly. Also, try copying the contents of the CD to your hard drive and install from there. Also, try the disk in another computer to make sure it's disk's fault and not your computer's.

Some companies do send replacement CDs, I think you should try it and ask.
