Calling all Blackberry experts! I just got a new Blackberry Pearl 8120. I am totally new to the world of smart phones and after looking around online I am only more confused as to what this thing can do and how.

Some questions:
1) I am on T-Mobile. Am I correct that I have to sign up for t-mobile's internet plan to use pretty much everything special the phone can do? Such as maps, email, etc.?
2) Email push: what is that? Is it different than just going online with the phone and checking email?
3) Maps: anyone know if I can just upload some maps to the phone so I don't have to go online to view maps? There is also a map program and a GPS program but there is no provider listed under my options, and it doesn't let me choose one. Which service do I sign up for for that? Internet?
4) Web browser: the browser and the "t-zone" program look the same. Is there a different web browser I can use? There is also an option for 5.99 internet service when I click "web" under t-zone, but no one told me about that when I got the phone and I have read that is not compatible with the blackberries. Is that true?
5) Is there a way to use the phone on wifi networks without signing up for the t-mobile internet plan?
6) what is the difference between sms text and the other text? (MMS or something, cant remember)

Also if anyone knows any cool programs or a good site to get free stuff for this thing, that'd be cool. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure sms can only include text, while mms can have embedded images.

lutzj is correct. SMS is text only ( Short Message Service ) and MMS can include multimedia objects.
